Deep Southern

Brand Identity

Idea

Deep Southern is Australia’s first food-grade seawater and seawater ice brand, created to introduce an entirely new category to the market. With no established competitors or visual conventions locally, the challenge was not to stand out in a crowded field, but to define the field entirely. Deep Southern’s ambition was to create a premium culinary brand grounded in provenance, care, and trust.

The identity draws on the human connection to place. The marks we leave, the maps we make, and the meaning we attach to where things come from. Using precise latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates alongside authentic timestamps, the identity honours the true source of the seawater and reinforces Deep Southern’s commitment to transparency and quality. Inspired by navigation tools, old fishing charts, and coastal mapping systems, the design language creates a sense that the coastline isn’t just seen, but felt, recorded, and remembered. The result is an identity that feels distinctly Australian, understated, and deeply connected to the ocean it comes from.
